1.
I recollect
Those glorious days
Of the summer
Recalling
Golden years
Of child-hood
Age-groups of rustic
Village toddlers and tots
During-
Summer vacation
As the schools
Used to be closed
Counting exactly
For two months or
Sixty two days
After a long wait
Planning and dreaming
Of the activities for
Lending a helping hand
To the parents at home
Playing programmes
Besides
School home-task
Visiting maternal uncles
And paternal aunts
To be the main issues
Every year
Clubbed with grazing
Of the cattle herds
As a special charge.
2.
I recollect
Those glorious days
Of the summer
Recalling-
Whistling of
Diverse musical tones
To get together
Using word- codes
And body language
For calling the crowd
Of lads and lasses
In a fit of excitement
Forgetting
Even the counting
Of days and dates
And leisurely
Passing of the time.
3.
I recollect
Those glorious days
Of the summer
Recalling-
Taking out together
The herds of cattle
Sheep and goats
Grazing for
As the whole day fun
Enjoying
The noon altogether
At the meadows
Taking lunch-
Tasting traditional
Pickle and vegetables
Butter and butter-milk
Onions with salt
Under-
The mango-trees
After having a swim
With buffalos
And the calves
Gripping their tails tight
No fear of drowning
Into the lake.
4.
I recollect
Those glorious days
Of the summer
Recalling-
Listening very often
To the music of rains
Viewing-
Pleasant dance
Of the falling rain
Outside, in open
On the plains
Over still waters
Trees and mountains
Watching from inside
The shed made of
Metallic-sheets
With bonus music
And flashings
Of the lightening
Followed by deafening
Thunders of the clouds
A life-style so lived
Being, prone to it.
