Red, White And Blue Poem by Mary Champion

Red, White And Blue

BUT NOT IN THAT ORDER
Red hot danger,
red for anger.
Red for passion
and seduction,
where the red light signifies
the chance for lust to claim its prize.
Red for hot-heads lacking thought,
yet everywhere it's red for halt.
Amongst the flags hoist overhead,
three quarters will include some red.

Cool blue - peaceful,
healing, easeful,
blue for quietness
blue for sadness.
Darkly dignified is blue,
authority comes shining through.
Soft blue for the ethereal;
translucent, metaphysical.
Aristocrats, all Europe through
will claim their blood is royal blue.

White unsullied,
white untainted,
white perfection,
cold perception.
Limp white flags announce submission,
soft white feathers for the craven.
White light shining through a prism,
will be subject to division,
and when the ray is split apart
you'll see the rainbow at its heart

Richard of York Gave Battle in vain -
his pure white rose hid a colourful stain.
