Redemption Poem by Kevin Rice

Redemption

I, John, had a vision
Wherein, filled with amazement
I witnessed the end of days.
To fellow travellers on this earthly road
Who read my words
I offer the gift of warning.
Hear, then, of the day that is to come
And with it,
That which my vision unveiled to me,
A new heaven and a new earth

The Day of the Son of Man
Awaits you in your slumber
The time of sleeping is passed
Arise! Go into the streets.
Look up and lift your heads
And see! Your redemption draws near.
What need shall there be
Of useless rest
When the stars, without warning,
Fall from the sky,
When the sun is darkened
And the moon refuses its light?
And when the Lion of Judah
Opens the first four seals of his dreadful scroll
What hope will you seek in the mountains?
What refuge will you find
From the sharp all-seeing sword
Which strikes down nations?

Of this be sure,
White, Red, Black and Pale,
Four horsemen shall ride
On the appointed day
And, at the designated hour,
No human hand or mortal pleading
Shall stay their fury.

They shall unleash, as you despair,
Disaster, famine, plague and war
In seven years of dreadful tribulation
Then you shall truly know the bitter taste
Of desolation
And the wrath of God

I, John, have looked upon the day
When the time of grave alarm
Has spent its anger
When the Judgement comes
And the chaff and the wheat
Are forever set apart
There can be found a place of sanctuary
Where none shall perish
Where none shall be snatched
From the hand of the Holy Lamb
And this also I saw
Whose names are written there in the Book of Life
Theirs is redemption
Marked with a crown imperishable
And peace with God
