Reflection Poem by Michael F. Laughlin

Reflection

Rating: 4.5

Alone, reflecting, on a lovely day in May.

Thinking of the day's gone by and what life has passed my way.

At first I thought of love's I'd known that came from time to time.

The one's who thought that I was theirs; the one's I thought were mine.

And then I thought of where I've been, both close and far away.

And wondered of the changes made in places I have stayed.

And as I watched a young boy play, I remembered as a child.

How innocent those early years, so trusting of a smile.

My mind began to think back to the bravery of my youth.

When nothing could have frightened me in my search of all life's truths.

I don't know when I lost it or when it came about.

But secretly my youth was gone with so few truth's found out.
