Reflections Of A Woman Poem by Shirley Harrison

Reflections Of A Woman

I've had more pity parties than I care to remember and even embarrassed to say, those that I can't remember at all

you know? the ones where you feel like having a small glass of wine and it turns into a whole bottle, and maybe even a tipple of rum or your favourite whiskey?
just to finish it off?

and you suddenly find yourself tipsy and in a world where
Frank Sinatra
and Smokey Robinson
are spending the evening with you?
when you find yourself listening to your favourite playlist of
'the old times of yore'
memories happy memories sad
memories to savour and all those bad

and when you awake with a throbbing head and a box of tissues under your bed
and you realize the wonderful life in which, if we laugh, we can move forward, look back, and laugh again
as music really does soothe the pain.
