Regret Poem by Lonnie Budro

Regret

When I stand before my maker
And the 'Balance Scales' are set
I hope The Good that I have done in life
Outweighs what I regret

Those little acts of kindness
As light as they can be
Have So Much that they must overcome
To find some peace for me

Transgressions that weigh so heavy
That number more than I admit
'Dark Shadows' through my walk in life
That my heart will not forget

A brief reprive, my heart recieves sometimes
When I help someone in need
Until the thought of things i've done
Bring back dark memories

Good deeds are where I find my peace
To right some wrong i've done
While I try and walk a straighter path
On this new life that i've begun
