Regret Poem by Amanda McClung

Regret

Regret

I regret the day I said goodbye,
Now I sit and mourn.
I never thought you’d die,
Oh how I’m torn.

I regret that you were in pain,
I’m really sad,
It’s making me insane,
You don’t know how bad.

You got really sick,
I didn’t know it would stick,
But you stayed strong,
And carried on.

I wonder why,
Why He took you away
My love for you will never run dry,
Even past my final day.

I miss you,
I hope you miss me too.
When you look down,
I hope you don’t frown,
For I’m okay,
But maybe only for today.

Now I’m here,
In front of your grave,
For I say “oh dear”,
For my memories of you are engraved.

I start to cry,
And wonder why,
Why I didn’t say goodbye.
I wish I had one more day,
That’s no lie,

I care for you so,
Oh boy will you ever know.
Why’d you have to go?
Now I’m all alone.

I cry every time I hear our song,
Wow has it been that long,
Yeap, three years have gone,
Since you passed on.

Forgive me please,
For I’ve started to cry,
You’re now at ease,
But I’m still not ready to say goodbye!
