Remember Us Laughing Poem by Danny Speicher

Remember Us Laughing

Don't look in my eyes this moment, my dear
You won't see me as I want to be seen
That image of how I have always been
Don't remember me with eyes full of tears

Oh, I know that you have to leave me now
I suppose that I have known for some time
You must take your path and I must take mine
We'll go on without each other somehow

But, if you ever think of me someday
Please don't think of me like I am this day
Instead, remember us laughing, I pray
Not these frail attempts begging you to stay

Remember us laughing at the state fair
With summer breezes tickling your hair
