Remembrance Poem by Ashleigh George

Remembrance

In the wake of death,
And those who fell,
They lost the wealth,
Their lives would bring
They lost their health,
Their future unseen.
But what was worst,
They lost themselves.

Those who live,
Remember the light,
Captured by the dark.
The what ifs,
The why now,
The endless questions,
Never answered,
Forgotten in cruel time.

Now we stand,
The graveyard filled,
Our tears the water,
That keeps them alive.
The darkest days will never pass,
Our only hope,
That death will bring solace,
Finding peace in the quiet,
Of being united.
