Remembrance Poem by Charl JF Cilliers

Remembrance

Walking some distance down the beach you’ll come
upon bunches of flowers beside the informal crosses
in memory of those who trawled the sunlit
sea, whose only harvests were the losses
remembered – through endless empty hours
of days, weeks, months – with these small flowers.
