Remnants Poem by B. V. Dahlen

Remnants

Today we covered the pool, formally ending the summer. We unplugged the lights strung through the bushes, and stored the lamps that bordered walkways. Flowers still blossom and birds still refresh, fluttering in the birdbath. Butterflies still sip nectar from lantana, but there is no wavering reflection of autumn’s glowing and growing hues, because today, we covered the pool.
