Remnants Of The Sun Poem by Issac Theobald

Remnants Of The Sun

the memories of the golden sun
seem fleeting in the dark
the remnants of the light it shone
seem to have disembarked

what happened to the flowing streams?
the animals running about
these memories are all but dreams
and yet there is the doubt

was it ever truly warm?
for i have forgotten the suns embrace
the night is truly now the norm
since i lost that glowing face

the comfort that it once gave
the ever present guidance
the warmth and light that i now crave
in this lonely and dark expanse

pieces of the sun lie scattered
in the faces of those it cared
all those dreams and lives left shattered
the people left cold and scarred

the throne left empty and bare
while most turn to the dark for support
some try to rule the despair
but they will always end up falling short

I love the lines, pieces of the sun lie scattered / in the faces of those it cared. The whole poem paints a really beautiful sun-kissed picture :)
