Rendering And Re-Rendering (With You) Poem by Johnny Knight

Rendering And Re-Rendering (With You)

Rating: 5.0

I'm a painting.
-I'm a painting.
- I'm a painting.
- -I'm a painting.

That sentiment over and
over again until it looks like
someone kept scratching away pieces
of it and putting them back two
centimeters over from where they were before

until it looks like glass panes,
each with unique geometry
cut into them,
have been layered on top of it
without regard
for anything
but their beauty

again

and again

and again

nothing but beauty;

beauty in essence -
whatever beauty comes in;

I see white

off-white - just color

off-eggnog

statue,
like:
surface tension
but everywhere
and electric

and I don't walk into it

it isn't a place

it just is

and I'm in it -
the sensation of beauty

the being,
eunoia and you,

and paintings,

and glass:

all collaborating to be
something like
heartbeat chandeliers
and extra oil paint
smeared everywhere just because
specifically

a painting - an artisanship of being beauty & mess with you -

a painting

smear

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I had this incredible dream in which I was painting on a canvas in a room - I could see myself from the large archway entering the room - and I (or somebody who sounded like me)was narrating the experience with wise sentiments about how life changes forward with our intentions. It was so beautiful, I believe I cried, and if I didn't, I am almost doing so now, recounting the dream that night.
