Rescue Me - Poem by Michael John Cook

I was unhappy,
You'd never have known,
As my depression,
Was so rarely shown,
I told you,
I was feeling great,
But in reality,
Myself I did hate,
I drank hard,
Not for the love of it,
It 'helped',
I could not get enough of it,
I hit my low,
Life was boring me,
Until the day,
She came to set me free,
Four months on,
So much to be grateful for,
A lover and friend,
That I so truly adore,
No glossing,
Just honesty and reality,
She kicked my ass,
She stood there and challenged me,
And now I am happy,
For the first time in years,
No loneliness,
No more sadness and fears,
Our love,
Will inspire all around,
To remember that,
Only the lost can be found
