Resigned Wishes Poem by KUNAL SETH

Resigned Wishes

Resigned wishes of benign eyes
Every where they speak of unlit fires
Slowly spreading like bacteria
Causing a numb hysteria
Some wishes waiting for approval
Some already met their fate like the coral
Extended through religion
Even tried by the legion

Resigned wishes in the air
Hope they find someone to care
Centuries of despair
No heart had its repair
The clouds hung on freedom
Giving succour from the sunlit kingdom
A sky failing to be a sky
Rivers have gone dry

On the stairway to heaven
Every heart overwhelmed with creation
These resigned wishes have taken a shape of a globe
One day they’ll fall out of lord’s robe
We urchins call it the permanent cure
But one’s resigned wish is another’s grandeur
