Resolute Poem by Itohan Stephanie #

Resolute

Head strong and sturbon
Heavy minded daughter of a man
Haste all week to meet a goal
Hesitant to listen
Happy enough to stand out, when you stand out, you stand alone
Hear it loud am Bewilded and very tenacious
How can i be Persistent with goals as sturdy as stone

Chose to Liston more
Chose to dream all day all night
Chose to agree to falsehood
Chose to embody womanhood
Chose to work hard, rather than sleep
Chose to learn even in discomfort
Chose to dream so big in daylight
Chose kindness over niceness
Chose reality over fantasy
Chose to write this line

A woman should be soft, they muttered
A woman should be slim, they mumbled
A woman should endure they mouthed
A woman should give more
A woman should speak less
A woman should be fat, but not so much
A woman should look after her family
A woman should limit this and that

But am a woman who do not listen
But a woman too disciplined to care
But am a woman who values time
But am a woman who knows how to write
But am a woman who dreams by day or by night
Am a woman raised by strong men
Am a woman who demands justice
Am a woman, for all women

My contingencies is not from another
I learned to make hail in season
Even in day light i dream as like night
Dream today, tell it another day
So when will the dream come through
My angry mind murmured, hush
Yet clever enough to distinguish
The difference between day and night
Were do dreams really emanate
Do we really dream or we sleep
Then chose your days wisely
