Restless Rain Poem by Nkwachukwu Ogbuagu

Restless Rain

Rating: 5.0

Restless rain comes when the front door
Opens to reveal two dragonflies mating
In mid-air - one male the other female.
Shafts of warm sunlight pierce through
Windowpanes of cathedrals, pointing to
Some frugal earnestness of heated air.
Winds are deceived in this distillation of
Burnished clouds with charged frontiers of
Rebelling seas, causing the retching of
Frolicking seagulls.
There's the gloom of Thursday,
Soughs that mock wizened jowls.
Rain drums on tom-toms, drowning eclectic
Sound-whiffs wafting through skiffle doom.
Copro fetor ferments slanting drizzles on
Pitched fences, oiling the rage in us,
Puking spurts of chagrined liquid waste,
Dank perfumes and precursors of
Restless rain.
