Resurrection Poem by James Gibbons

Resurrection

Violets bloom among the leaves
smiling flower faces sway in the breeze
blown clusters of gold mingle with green
night blankets cold across their bed
morning shows white frosted little faces
frozen by the silent sunless stalker
as darkness descends upon the land
huddled dormant, tucked deep in nature's nursery
stillness broken by gawking horns and honking geese
switches flicked and night retreats
till time turns and earth again warms
turns around and greets the sun
spring zephyrs whisper once again
their gentle breezes waken the sleepers
the faithful fertile soil stirs and stretches
by and by new growth arises
breaking winter's coffin this holy Easter day.
