Return Poem by Sam Dumont

Return

I am a shadow past
A figure, lost in the dark
I turn, it comes so fast
I run, as prey to a shark

Decisions are final
Actions, forbidden
Although, this arrival
It makes me frozen

I only saw this in fright
I got hit, a horrendous bite
This darkness swallowed
All of me, as a whole

I cannot believe, conceive

It did not suffice, did not relieve
Free me from this, an instance

But now, I can only abide
These choices, I could not hide
A word, a thought, a promise
It bound me, I cannot dismiss...
