Return Fire Poem by Sean Toland

Return Fire

I have a reasonable grasp of comprehension,
And a comprehensive grasp of reason,
I plant the seed of revelation,
And watch it mature until cultivation,

I am equipped with sublime vision,
And a body that flows rich crimson,
I am built to last but destined to fail,
I'll never excel and I'm scared of jail,

My methods are never questioned,
And faith is always given,
But stretching up from the bottom rungs, is a terrible way to be livin',

I've got an arsenal of pure gold,
And a chest filled with artillery,
I'm supposed to live my life,
but stiffling monotony is killing me,

I'll never run from a challenge,
I'll never lose a war,
But like anyone on the frontline,
I'll ask 'what am I doing it for? '

Confidence can be superfluous and words can be misplaced,
But life in totality is the greatest foe ever faced,

So when adversity smites you,
And your head hits the floor,
Scrape yourself back up
And start roaring out for more,
