Scared of the dark?
Scarred by the dark.
It burns.
It scourges me,
And boils me,
And desiccates my eyes.
Shaves my worthless pounds of flesh,
And turns my blood to dust.
Sometimes, when I want to die,
When what I do pokes the freak's cage,
I turn off the power,
And sit in righteous writhing,
Foetal curling damnation,
And scream with others' souls.
It will take more than one night,
So it's safety match on sandpaper.
A small dose of humanity
Innoculates again.
I've had nights like that too Kevin...beautifully written...love your poetry...thank you for sharing it...
