Ah this pair, like contenders in the arena,
daughter & dad...like Zeus and Athena
catapults of hurtful words thrown asunder
like mighty gods bellowing like thunder...
Pride and anger, the desire to disobey...
Thoughts of rebellion, messages to convey
Crush down the offspring with restraint,
reverence now gone with so much complaint
But there was once a time of adoration...
A time of harmony & there's no competition
To whoever says the least but hits the best
A time when there ain't nothing to contest
When offspring & father held hands together,
Showing the world nothing else ever matter...
but the joy of seeing such likeness of him grow...
despite the tears and boo-boo's she has to show
back to the days when the father's the hero...
A child looks up awed, thinking maybe tomorrow,
Is not gonna be as bad as today, like play...
Hope that life's better on another day
Wish that you could just sit in his lap forever
Hear stories from far off lands & ever after’s...
and not ever look anywhere else for some solace...
Made bonds stronger like double-knotted shoelaces
That when everything falls apart, he'd still be there
to pick you up and tell you hush don't worry dear...
Look there's the Ice Cream man from afar so smile...
Don't cry now or your face'll be longer than a mile
Somehow, sooner or later one would have to leave
And all you can do is just to be strong & believe
that One way or another it'll be like yesterday...
When nothing else matters but the hero & play
