Ring Poem by erin maher

Ring

Ring of gold
white with gems
reminds me of the memories
shared between them

Placed on the finger
of a wife to be
by a father with love
for his daughter's mommy

A year spent together
after vows were said
laughs and memories
of the day they were wed

The year ended quickly
and so did her love
she left a broken man
and flew like a dove

No hurt did she feel
no pain in her eyes
like she couldn't hear
the poor man's cries

He's left alone
with his daughter for life
by the only woman he loved
and made his wife

Her rings were passed down
to the sad little girl
to go on and face
the rest of the world

It's worn on her finger
to remind her of when
the times that used to be
and never will be again
