Ring Ring Poem by Ron Leyba

Ring Ring

Ring ring goes my phone, its you, my heart sinks
I can clearly see your face, every time that I blink
Ring ring all these thoughts rushing into my head
about what will be heard and what will be said
Ring ring goes my phone do I dare hit accept?
everything I say is sure to be inept.
Ring ring once more, I answer the phone
to the sweetest voice in in the kindest tone
for the briefest moments my hearts filled with joy
now you say you have to go, no please don't deploy
we say our goodbyes, I stay on a moment longer
to whisper, an "I love you" and try to be stronger
