Ripped Roots - Poem by gabby sutherland

i was once a flower
in a safe place
where no one came
one night i was alone
i was dreaming of my past
a man came
he took a knife
ripped me up by my roots
took me away
i began to cry
the tears i have held so long
i began to wonder
if i would ever see my home again
an angel came to me
dressed in black
she took me away
back to my home
where i lived in hell such as this
i woke up
i saw it was a dream
but the part about the knife,
the blood, the tears
it was real
