Riverdance Poem by Isadora Quagmire

Riverdance

Thunder rolls across the floor
Pacing with a racing score,
Falling strokes of many heels,
Dancers turn in vibrant wheels,
Drums with ire beat and batter,
With vigor answers the clatter,
Melody slowing then speeding,
Figures fleetly floating—leaping,
Deeply complex like living lace,
Moving with a river's swift grace.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Over the summer and fall in our spare time my sister and I have been learning Irish Riverdance from our very talented Aunt, because of this I have been wanting to write a poem that depicts, in words, the lovely art of the dance. This poem was specifically inspired by the dance " Reel Around the Sun" from Riverdance: The Show (1995) . May you enjoy this poem dear reader, God bless!
