Driving down an old paved road
Feeling lifes heavy load
Searching to find a new way
I turn down the road of red clay
Lined with pines on each side
Away my problems, begin to slide
Hearing the song of the whipporwill
Calms my soul, even more still
The call of a lonesome Bobwhite
Fills my soul with delight
Flowers and trees all in bloom
Take away my feelings of impending gloom
A buck and doe run alongside my car
All my problems, now seem afar
The fantasy stops as I come to the end
Returning to where my life is spent
Back to the jungle of concrete and steel
To this world, where little love, do I feel
Reality is the place, where we must only survive
While on the road of red clay, I felt so alive

The road waffled by the passing cars Ridges raised by the bumping of the tires A washboard it is for sure And only the dedicated can endure. A grader passing along the way Attempts to fill in between ridges of clay But soon the passing of a car Replenishes the tire's bumpy scar. Take your time the road seems to say Hurrying will not get you much better along the way Let the road dictate your passe' in life You'll not pass this way twice. s
