Romance's Tale Poem by Alex McCullough

Romance's Tale

A dark princess tosses a rose,
To the kind prince before her,
Hoping the thorns will poison him with her love,
Making him fall under her spell.
It's the perfect plan,
Using tricks and lies to get what she wants,
Without having to deal with the hardships of romance,
But deep in her heart, the only thing she wants,
Is to dance with the prince without any second thoughts.
Like a Temptress of Deceit,
Tricking him with her many masks,
While pulling him deeper into her with her words,
Hoping that he'll somehow shoot away all the masks she has,
Leaving her with only her true feelings to wear.
But with so many obstacles in his way,
Can he really find a way to see through to the real her?
Of course he can,
Because that is how the game of love works,
Putting its players in front of different doors,
So that they can find their way to the place that calls out to them.
