Rose Among Violets Poem by Drew Swartz

Rose Among Violets

Sweet Rose covered in the morning dew
Such beauty just like you
Covered in thorns to keep everyone away
Not I on the other hand for I shall stay
Draw blood if you will when I hold the Rose in my palm
I'll smile at you and always be calm
I'm called such terrible names from those who see me
But what their eyes spot isn't what they really see
I hold you and feel no pain
Together, we are sane
Out of everyone in the garden I saw something more
An individual who has true beauty to the core
Don't let them bring you down
Never shed a tear, never frown
Plucked from the rest
I chose only the best
Sweet Rose covered in dew
Such a beauty, no other is like you!
