Roses Became Ash Poem by Nightshade Starlight

Roses Became Ash

As I sit here, waiting for you,
I knew you wouldn't come.
With a smile on my face
I watch the fire burn close to me.
The warmth spreading through me.

Those beautiful red roses,
That you gave to me, not the day before.
Richly red, and giving the sweetest scent.
They were a show of your love,
They were a show of pity.

I smile and stand up looking toward the door.
You would walk in smile,
Saying you had a busy day at work,
But that won't happen tonight.
Because I locked the door.

I throw the Roses in the fire,
And was the delicate flowers,
Their edges turned up and trun black,
The beauty fading in ash.
Roses became ash.

I remember when it was just you and I.
Sitting by this fire,
Telling stories pertending everything was happy.
You secrets never told and always hidden.
Your the one that turned the beatuiful roses to ash.

Now that I look back on it,
I can't help but smile.
I have finally seen what you've been up to.
Now you lost something that you thought
You would always have.

I turn my back on the fire,
And The roses became ash.
