Roses Have Thorns Too Poem by Amanda Hollowell

Roses Have Thorns Too

His love is wildfire. Scorching inside
And out. It is all-consuming, uncontrolled.
Completely Destructive. Total annihilation.
Leaving nothing in his wake.

His eyes so much like the sea, churning
with emotion, crashing against my soul.
Dragging me under the current to drown me in their depth.
I consent to the pull.

The juxtaposition of his hands.
Rough in feel, but soft in touch. Like
the difference in the soft, Spanish moss growing
on the rough barked Cypress trees near my home.

Kisses that make my bones melt
like chocolate in his hands. Stealing
away the air in my lungs and making
my blood burn like lava under my skin.
