Routine Poem by Sutapa Chaudhuri

Routine

A long day ends
incessant drudgery
lights up the dusty crevices
night descends
like a pall
lonely, silent.

A deathly embrace
grips the naked soul,
a shaft of pain courses swift
piercing to the core
dusky empty spaces
again.
