Ruins Poem by C.D. Sinex

Ruins

I got in and out
of town
without seeing you

better yet
you seeing me

no small feat
with everyone telling me
you're single again

it's no surprise

tenants sheepishly asked
if I'm moving back

they've lived here
longer than I did

but this was just
a starting point
a place to be from

I do love the smell, though

you're still up the hill
but the storm
took out the bridge

I came to survey
the damage

not search for
ancient ruins
