Run For Life Poem by Bisrat Tsegai

Run For Life

Brave decision once made
With no information to plan the escape
Not eaten for days, I didn’t have bread
I will just be the body found in the arid dead

Sleep took me from tire, hunger and thirst
Sweet singing birds disturbed my peace
A hungry rushing stream swept my bed
Heavy rain dropped and I didn’t have shelter
Heaven sent message delivered by bird

Oh! God
That much you protect me
But, I was in the wrong side of the river
Now that I am alive, let me excel
To the Sudan, to exile

At last I’m free
But I‘ll still flee
Till I reach my destiny
Thank lord only you own me

But,
Back home they took mommy
My heart will bear how many
Why they do this cruel deed
People are loosing their beloved
Just for keeping faith to Christ

That much I want to be with love
How much I long to laugh
Though for a while this is enough
For they have scored love

We are in the future
So wide open, ahead there
(I know) Tomorrow will be bitterer
I promise you soon it will be better!
This will only make you stronger
