Running For A Pudding Poem by Martin Ward

Running For A Pudding

Rating: 5.0

Running For A Pudding
(A celebration of the annual Matthew Walker
10K Pudding Run in Shipley Park, Derbyshire)

Running for a pudding,
not running for a bus.
Chasing for a mince-pie,
so don't be such a wus.
(Wus or Wuz is a Derbyshire expression
meaning someone who is a little fussy
or lightweight in their approach to tasks)
Mulled-wine's very tempting,
and it's freezing cold today.
So put your foot down matey;
burn some calories on the way.
Here's cheers to Matthew Walker,
who, since eighteen ninety-nine,
have made great Christmas puddings
all-year-round for Christmas time.
HeanorRunning Club's Members
and Marshalls are sublime,
so keep on eating puddings
and keep running all the time!
