Ruse Poem by Bill Grace

Ruse

An undergraduate professor
told how Napoleon in exile
wrote of his great love for the French people.
It was as much of a ruse as the British commander's
subtle poisoning of him at their dinners.
I doubt that Hitler at Napoleon's tomb
ever meditated on these things.
