Rush, Rush Poem by Emma Beverage

Rush, Rush

Rush, rush, got to go,
can't stop now, can't take it slow
Work, work, study, study,
always something, to keep me busy.
It seems to me that my time,
belongs to someone else, it's not mine.
If I could wave a magic wand
I'd spend my time beside a pond.
Or walk along a bubbling brook
or just relax with a good book.
Maybe I'd fly high up in the air
in a balloon without a care.
I might climb a mountain peak
and spread my arms, Goddess to seek.
I could gaze into a night of stars,
wonder if God can reach that far.
I can't take time to speculate
I've got a class and can't be late.
Don't get me wrong, I must admit
that I enjoy most of what I'm doing.
I would like to slow the pace a bit
to enjoy the education that I'm pursuing.
My homework is two poems a week.
Mine aren't great, might even be weak.
But now I can mark this off my list,
I think that I have finished this.
