Ruth Poem by Richard Noggin

Ruth

Ruth lay in her bed knotted up like
Frail rope in a fetal position
Suffering from a cerebral vascular accident
She lay a pile of mangled human remains
No longer able to control her body
She lays contorted with a soft clear tickle
Of saliva dripping from her mouth
Our eyes meet and I can see deep within them
Brown coloration with her pupils dilated
As wide as a mother giving birth
She is rendered speechless but her
Eyes tell me all I need to know
For within her eyes I see the anger
The injustice she feels
Battling with fawn thoughts of a life well lived
But there can be no victor between these angry thoughts
So I leave hoping that by the end of the day
As she recounts the spoils of her mind
That she might free herself
And find peace within the hallow glen
She calls her body
