Sit By Me Love Poem by Heather Jephcott

Sit By Me Love

Sit by me and tell me about love
not the concept
that which flies on by
but your experience
how love's touched you
opened your heart
and allowed you
enabled you to sing

Tell me of the smiles of love
you meet to begin the day
threads of affectionate phrases
hearts sharing
engaging together
to produce joy bubbles

Ponder how you have learnt to love
from whom your love tank
is supplied
the circles of love within which you live
the arms you feel
encircling you

Consider how love has grown
the giving,
the attitudes that cannot be replaced
that seem so integral
so much part
to keeping the love
this prize that grows,
that cannot be bought

Tell me your thoughts on the blessing of this love
whose passion does not give up
lasting a lifetime
growing not old or cold
but increasing with the years
the sparks,
the fire
rekindling
as time goes by
