Samae'l Poem by Shafna Shamsuddin

Samae'l

Different is all I did to be wrong
Different is evil, they said all along
They shun me down in the city of love
Locked me up very high above…

Different is evil, I was told
I am believed to be evil as I was told
No matter the passion I behold
Forever in chains, I must hold

Where would you run
When the war is in your heart
And the chain is in your head
And the soul, way apart

What's more precarious
than a puritan's bliss?
Oh! the path he takes
to flee from hell fire's hiss

Men believe what they believe
to be true and evil
But alas! ! they realize
They're one another in disguise

Locked in a tower, for being born wrong
They set me on fire, for being true all along
But they do not know, I am Samae'l
The bringer of light, from the hell fire..

Do you know Samael, have you heard of me?
Yes, you have, but by another call of me
Lucifer the damned, the cursed they call me
You shun me out but where would you be without me?
