Same Old Song And Dance Poem by Ben Bergeth

Same Old Song And Dance

A fence has a defined design,
consistent from post to post.
A clothing pattern seems flawless,
it repeats ever so often.

Our lives seem so random, spontaneous.
I must admit, it keeps things interesting.
But the same old song and dance
is a comfort we hold onto.

There seems to be no balance,
Either newness or status quo.
Which scenario is more desirable?
An invigorating fresh day or the old we all love?

I can't escape the motions of everyday.
I hit the twists and turns of life.
My heart is hitting a pitch of feeling.
But it beats the same yesterday.
