Sandman Poem by Lola Sanchez

Sandman

Rating: 5.0

I’m sleepy again
I need to sleep
to close my eyes and lose myself
But I can’t! not again
Can’t throw myself at the
never ending darkness of sleep
it won’t cure what ails me
I won’t feel better afterwards

Oh but how I hurt for
the endlessness
the flowing, enveloping clouds
The strange characters
who meet me there
- how I miss them-

I need to sleep

No! must stay awake, alert
I cannot sleep my life away!
I should LIVE
Make the best of each day
Carpe diem

How will meet the prince of my dreams
When I’m sleeping?
Or fight dragons?
I should stay awake!
Breathe fresh air!

Yes!
That’s what I’ll do!
after I had some sleep
