Sapphire Breeze Poem by Quincey Burkhalter

Sapphire Breeze

Butterflies
Holding the lids of my eyes open
Opalescence of wakeful dreaming
Rainbows of misty thought
On wing

Iridescent beauty
In the changing color of muddled light
The blue of dancing, sapphire breeze
The blue of excited rhythm
Halted in a single breath
The blue of night
The blue of escape

Trapped splendor
The bird on a branch, too cold to fly away
Held in amber light
Held in memory
The broken wing of broken heart

On lazy air
The mist of her gentle touch
In memories lost
But found
In snippets broken
With human touch
