Life On Wing Poem by Quincey Burkhalter

Life On Wing

Rating: 5.0

Oh sparrow, carry me away
In fancy, in soft chirping melody
Mixed with pollen, with wind

Carry me away on wings
Of childhood laughter
Fluttering upon nests
You have always known how to make

Carry me away tiny bird
In short and flitting life
Gathering straw to nest
Among newly budding leaves

Place me with the spotted egg
Among open mouths
And pink newness
Shouting for a morsel of food

Push me into flight
The rapture of air in my lungs
As I finally take wing
Falling from four walls of protection
Into open and cold air

Light my feet onto the snowy branch
The last leaves of autumn hanging vehemently
Yellow in the gray air
Gray wing carves icy air
As winter is nothing but a temporary hindrance

So much beautiful imagery you have created in this poem. Nicely done!
