Sarkah Poem by Rozmanshah Abdullah

Sarkah

My relationship with the living spirit
Says something other than the mere thing itself
Sarkah encapsulates my whole Malay psyche
It is about inheriting the invisible traits of my ancestors
something other is brought together with the thing that is made
preens through my paintings and the inspiration it manifested from

My indulgence is my pain
and my ignorance is my vessel
Thick blood watered down passing through generations
But the raw essence lives on
As I stood before my creation
At the top of my land
Clouds brushed my bare scalps
When I'm humbled of my existence
On a foreign plain
I lay myself down to the ground
Out from the peak
But reliving my unity
