Save Your Breath Poem by Amber Millar

Save Your Breath

Don't tell me you're sorry,
Because I don't believe a word,
Don't tell me you love me,
Because it will go unheard,
Don't tell me you need me,
Because it's just a lie,
Don't tell me you're hurting too,
Because we're both getting by,
Don't tell me you didn't mean it,
Because we both know you do,
Don't tell me you still care, darling,
Because we both know it's through,
Don't ask me for another chance,
Because you've had them all,
Don't ask me to take care of myself,
Because I think I just hit another wall,
Don't give me all those reasons,
Because I know what you really mean,
Don't get so defensive, sweetheart,
Because I'm just wiping this slate clean,
Don't call me a hypocrite,
Because we both know you're the same,
Don't try and make me guilty,
Because we both know you're to blame,
Don't give me any more dishonesty, baby,
Because I am truly sick to death,
I don't need you to tell me anymore,
Sweetheart... save your breath.
