Scanthem
heartbeats in fingertips swallow reason
like a cage with fire smothered by soot
welcome to the grid beyond our dark ages
without a torch and feeling by foot
looking for the I in liberties eyes
of glowing guilt-free and unconquered lies
elated we rise from the darkness, burning souls
crushing the mechanical chirp in the lilac groves
our anthem as scant as fresh pulsating legs
