Scarlet - Poem by Sydney Montgomery

Senseless words flow thru my mind,
So I etch them on, those scarlet lines.
You asked me to stop.
I intended to comply.
But you broke your promise,
So why shouldn't I?
It's like a race
To keep from falling apart.
I give up, you've won.
I knew you would from the start.
I keep up with what I'm doing,
and the drops fall, scarlet.
Just like my broken heart.
