To the gain of
trees,
space (density) ,
intensity
and monotonous layout (format)
a writer disdains (refrains from)
using quotation marks around direct speech.

there are blanks
at the start and end of the (long)paragraphs,
at the start and end of the chapters,
and there are whole white pages between parts.
Minimalism ranges beyond the fine arts.
