Screaming Silence Poem by Maggie Mundi

Screaming Silence

Your silence says so much
Because it never used to be
The stillness of the telephone
Is screaming out at me

You always seem so distant now
Even when you're standing near
And the words that you no longer say
Are the only ones I hear

This quiet is far from peaceful
In fact it's a deafening roar
And yet I cannot understand
Why I came back for more

Perhaps it's that I love you
Or maybe I'm just weak
But I won't leave until I hear
Those words that you can't speak
